SAM at schools for free

The project aimed at convincing schools that proactive software asset management (SAM) offers the following key benefits even in the specific educational environment: greatly simplified network administration, improved security, discovery of hidden reserves, accurate reporting necessary for further development, and protection of the school from issues related to copyright infringement (illegal copies of computer programs).

EXPECTED CHANGES:

• Electronic software inventory
• Regular, fully automated checking for changes in PC configuration and installed software
• The installed auditing system will block unlicensed programs from running and prevent the use of programs that allow illegal downloading of software, audio CDs and video DVDs. Due to the specialization of the school, this was a major risk in terms of criminal liability for the school administrators.
• Automated inventory of hardware and software will make it easier to locate required documentation outside of financial records.
• Prohibits unauthorized gaming software running
